Thanksgiving is celebrated on the fourth Thursday of November. It is considered a Federal Holiday in the United States, and it was first celebrated in 1920 when the Indians and the Pilgrims got together for a three-day feast and a festival of fun. Today families keep the tradition of celebrating and giving thanks for all the blessings received. In my classes students learn about the history of Thanksgiving by doing readings and exchanging ideas about the celebration. They also create scripts and enjoy role playing them. Dramatization plays a key role in my classes, and it has proven to be an excellent opportunity for language learners to improve pronunciation, develop social skills, and increase vocabulary.
