Maria Elena Pearsall
Empowered by Learning, Languages, and Culture; Inspired by Practice; and Driven by the Good in People

Welcome to my E-Professional Portfolio. I am a Spanish, French, and English instructor with experience and knowledge in curriculum design and teacher training. My maiden name is Maria Elena Barreto. You will find many of my class materials, papers, and certifications through my maiden name.
My teaching style is student centered. My philosophy is based around the idea that every learner is unique and can develop their talents through a supportive and caring environment. I aim at providing each student every opportunity to experience success.
I believe in the power of languages, communication, and relationships to achieve individual and collaborative goals. Therefore, My goal is to bring a positive attitude, consistency, equality, and fairness to all my students.
I hold a Professional Colorado teaching license, and I'm currently completing a Ph.D. program in Education. My research interest lies in applying technology to the teaching and learning of languages as well as improving intercultural communications and literacy. I actively apply my research in my classroom by incorporating approaches, games, and activities that promote healthy competition and motivate learning. I enjoy creating fun and meaningful experiences.
Teaching languages is the best career choice I've made. I am committed to advance my language learning and teaching in the era of technology and globalization. The increasing interconnectivity of our world creates an opportunity for students that learn a new language to excel in their professional and personal life. I feel grateful and blessed for all the opportunities I have had to teach, both in my home country of Venezuela and in the United States.
In this E-portfolio, you will find some examples of my work with children, teens, and adults.
Welcome!
